So, who is this Matt Fossa person, anyway?
Well, let's start at the beginning... (A very nice place to begin!)
Right now, I'm living in Pensacola, Florida and am 32 years old. I am a professional musician. Specifically, I'm principal oboist of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and Northwest Florida Symphony Orchstra. I'm also a member of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to this, I'm an adjunct professor at the Pensacola Junior College.
Early in April of 2003, Mike Cook, a fellow computer game player and musician, gave my site this great new look. Click Here to Read About It.
Any of my students from my classroom Music Appreciation course can download my Medieval to Baroque music study guide here.
"Fossa has contributed greatly to the music community as a composer, an educator, and most of all, as a fine performer," - Peter Rubardt, Pensacola Symphony Music Director. (Pensacola News Journal, February 10, 2007)
"In Pensacola, when there is an opera, or a chamber music group or a symphony or almost any quality classical music performance, you can be almost certain that Fossa will be in the midst of that performance." - Pensacola News Journal, February 10, 2007.
This is my own business in which I sell the scores for several works I have composed. Very reasonable prices.
My hobbies and interests are many. They include music (listening to, performing, and composing!), as well as reading, writing, and drawing. I have a passion for science fiction as well as books and movies about ancient civilizations. I'm also a great fan of British comedy, especially Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, and Red Dwarf. By seeing this page on the web, you can probably guess that I enjoy working with computers too! :-)
On occasion, I like to write short stories, most of which are based on various science fiction themes.
I've been a fan of Science Fiction for a very long time. After years of playing Starfleet Marines, my friends and I have decided to start up an organization dedicated to ALL kinds of Military Science Fiction ranging from Battlestar Galactica to Star Trek to Aliens. Feel free to visit our website and, if you're interested, join up with us. The main purpose of the club is TO HAVE LOTS OF FUN exploring a universe in which the armed forces from all our favorite Sci-Fi shows and books are thrown together to make one huge military force.
For a look at something which seems to take up the best of all of my interests: specifically, a science fiction computer game written in England, or if you'd like to check out an original story I've been writing...
This page gives as good an account as I can give about my experience through the worst named storm ever to hit Pensacola.
Here are a few links to some pages which focus on very specific things that I'm interested in.
Ever have trouble getting into those Magic Eye pictures and posters? Here's a site that teaches you how it's done! It's really cool (and, boy, I can tell you my eyes DO need the exercise!)
Yep, that's right. I'm a Freemason and proud of it! Naturally, I had to place a link to our Grand Lodge.
What person who's interested in Ancient Civilizations would leave out the Ancient Egyptians? (probably quite a few, but I'm not among them! So there! ;-)
This is the Masonic Lodge of which I am a member. The page is just slightly outdated, but at least we have one!
This is the website of the leading contenders for the X-Prize. Their vessel, "Space Ship One," a rocket-powered glider launched from a special carrier plane, is the first commercially-built spacecraft ever to make a sub-orbital space flight!
How could a science fiction fan like myself not have a link to the website about Space Science Fact!?
Starflight 1 and 2 were games written nearly a decade and a half ago by a team of great visionary game programmers. The concept was the first EVER graphical simulation of flying a multi-person crewed starship through the cosmos. It's been a long time since anything's been done with this great classic computer game and so a group of fans, including myself, are creating a sequel. My position, as you could likely guess, is that of the music composer. Anyway, if you've ever played Starflight 1 and/or Starflight 2, or if you're interested in science fiction computer games that require thinking (unlike most of the first person shoot-em-ups out there) check this out. I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised!
This is a "virtual tour" of the Inca Ruins at Machu Picchu. An really interesting site with pictures of some beautiful vistas.
Speaking of Science Fact, THIS is, in my opinion, what is going to determine the future of space flight! It's the next generation of the prize Lindburgh won when he crossed the Atlantic in the Spirit of St. Louis... Kinda makes sense that his grandson is a key player in this organization then, doesn't it?
